NG+ Guide

1. How to Unlock New Game Plus

New Game Plus (NG+) is unlocked after defeating the final boss (Ancient Guardian) and watching the ending. After the credits roll, you'll be prompted to save your cleared data. Load that save file to begin NG+.

You can also access NG+ from the main menu by selecting "New Game+" and choosing your cleared save slot. The game keeps your original save file separate from your NG+ save, so you can always return to your pre-final-boss state.

Before You Start NG+: Make sure you've collected everything you want from the first playthrough. While most items carry over, some missable content (like certain lore entries) may not be accessible in NG+ if you didn't collect them initially. Complete the optional bosses and Cursed Seal trials before starting NG+.

2. What Carries Over to NG+

Most of your progression carries over to New Game Plus:

  • All Runes: Every Rune you collected carries over, including boss drops and trial rewards. You keep your entire Rune inventory and can equip them from the start.
  • All Abilities: Blink, Double Jump, Water Breathing, Dash — all traversal abilities are available from the beginning of NG+. This means you can access every area from the start, including previously locked secrets.
  • Skill Tree Investments: All Ancestor Spirit skill points and investments carry over. You keep all passive bonuses and combat skills. You can respec at any time.
  • Health & Resource Upgrades: All max health and resource upgrades carry over. You start NG+ with your full upgraded health bar.
  • Weapon Upgrades: All weapon upgrades and enhancements carry over. Your weapons retain their upgrade level.
  • Currency (Sanctite): All Sanctite carries over. You start NG+ with your full savings.
  • Cosmetics & Skins: All weapon skins and cosmetic items carry over.
  • Map Data: Your explored map carries over — you don't need to re-explore areas. Hidden rooms you discovered remain marked.

3. What Changes in NG+

While your power carries over, the game becomes significantly more challenging:

  • Enemy Health & Damage: All enemies have approximately 200% health and deal 150% damage compared to the first playthrough. Basic enemies that died in one combo now require sustained damage.
  • Enemy Aggression: Enemies attack more frequently and have shorter recovery times. They also use new attack patterns not seen in the first playthrough.
  • Boss Changes: All bosses have increased health, damage, and new attack patterns. Some bosses gain entirely new phases. Boss fights are significantly longer and more demanding.
  • New Enemy Types: NG+ introduces new enemy variants (e.g., elite versions of basic enemies) that weren't present in the first playthrough. These have unique attacks and higher rewards.
  • Cursed Seal Trials: A new NG+-exclusive trial tier becomes available: "Transcendence." This is the hardest challenge in the game, featuring waves of NG+ elite enemies and a superboss-level final wave.
  • Loot Quality: Enemies drop more Sanctite and higher-quality items. Rune drops from bosses are replaced with Sanctite (since you already have the Rune), but the amount is significantly increased.

Difficulty Warning: NG+ is significantly harder than the first playthrough, even with all your upgrades. The first few bosses may feel surprisingly difficult because your muscle memory is tuned to first-playthrough attack speeds. Take time to relearn enemy patterns — the increased aggression means old strategies may not work.

4. NG+ Exclusive Content

New Game Plus features content not available in the first playthrough:

  • Transcendence Trial Tier: The hardest Cursed Seal trial, unlocked in NG+. Completing it rewards the "Transcendent" Rune, which provides a unique effect not obtainable elsewhere.
  • NG+ Exclusive Lore: Certain NPCs and lore entries only appear in NG+. These provide additional story context and reveal secrets about the island's ancient civilization.
  • New Game Plus Achievement: Completing NG+ (defeating the final boss again) unlocks the "Cycle Broken" achievement.
  • Higher Sanctite Income: NG+ enemies drop significantly more Sanctite, making it easier to max out all upgrades and purchase all cosmetic items.
  • Additional Cycles: You can start NG+2, NG+3, etc., after completing each cycle. Each subsequent cycle increases enemy health and damage further (scaling up to NG+5, after which difficulty caps). The Transcendence trial rewards improve with each cycle.

5. Should You Start NG+ Immediately?

Whether to start NG+ immediately after the final boss depends on your goals:

Start NG+ Immediately If:

  • You want to continue playing with your upgraded character
  • You want to experience the harder difficulty and new enemy patterns
  • You want to collect the NG+-exclusive Rune and achievement
  • You've already collected everything in the first playthrough (100% completion)

Wait Before Starting NG+ If:

  • You haven't collected all Runes, abilities, or upgrades — NG+ doesn't add new collectibles (except the exclusive Rune), so you should finish collecting in your first playthrough
  • You haven't defeated all optional bosses — optional bosses are easier in the first playthrough
  • You haven't completed all Cursed Seal trials at Overcoming tier — practice in the easier first-playthrough difficulty first
  • You want to experience the story again fresh — NG+ changes enemy behavior but the story remains the same

Recommendation: Before starting NG+, complete all optional content in your first playthrough (optional bosses, all Cursed Seal tiers, all collectibles, all lore entries). Once you've done everything there is to do in the first playthrough, start NG+ for the increased challenge and exclusive content. Your first-playthrough save file is preserved, so you can always go back.

Note: NG+ details (carry-over items, enemy scaling, exclusive content) are based on the launch version of Divinum. The developers may adjust NG+ scaling or add new NG+ content in post-launch updates. Always check the official patch notes before starting a new cycle.
