1. Ability Overview
Divinum features a suite of traversal and combat abilities that unlock progressively as you explore. Each ability serves dual purpose: it opens new exploration paths AND provides new combat options. This guide covers every ability, where to find it, and how to use it effectively.
Key Principle: Every time you unlock a new ability, immediately revisit all previous areas. The game is designed so that each ability unlocks 3-5 new secrets in earlier regions. Don't push forward without backtracking first.
2. Blink (Teleport)
Location: Forgotten Caverns (Region 2), deepest chamber · Prerequisite: None (available from the start if you can reach it) · Guardian: Crystal Golem mini-boss
Blink is the most important ability in Divinum. It teleports Fjør a short distance in the direction you're holding, or behind a nearby enemy if no direction is held. It has generous invincibility frames and can be used in mid-air.
Exploration Uses
- Cross gaps that are too wide for a normal jump
- Teleport through narrow gaps in walls and crystals
- Reach ledges that are just beyond jump range (jump + Blink)
- Teleport through laser barriers and energy fields
Combat Uses
- Teleport behind enemies to avoid attacks and backstab
- Dodge through attacks with i-frames (more reliable than normal dodge for fast attacks)
- Extend aerial combos by repositioning mid-air
- Escape corner traps and group surrounds
3. Double Jump
Location: Sacred Ruins (Region 5), upper temple area · Prerequisite: Blink (to reach the temple upper levels) · Guardian: Temple Guardian elite enemy
Double Jump allows Fjør to jump a second time in mid-air. This dramatically increases vertical reach and enables access to the game's highest secrets.
Exploration Uses
- Reach high ledges and rooftops
- Combine with Blink for maximum horizontal distance (jump → Blink → double jump)
- Access the Ancient City rooftops (Region 6)
- Reach hidden areas above the main path in every region
Combat Uses
- Extend aerial juggle time (jump after launcher → attack → double jump → continue aerial combo)
- Dodge ground-based attacks by staying airborne
- Set up dive attacks from maximum height (increased damage)
4. Water Breathing
Location: Ominous Forest (Region 3), sunken grove · Prerequisite: None (but navigating the forest is easier with Blink) · Guardian: None (found in a hidden grove after navigating a submerged maze)
Water Breathing allows Fjør to stay submerged indefinitely. Before unlocking it, you have a limited breath meter underwater.
Exploration Uses
- Explore fully submerged areas in Coastal Cliffs (Region 1) and Ominous Forest (Region 3)
- Find underwater tunnels that connect regions
- Access the hidden beach in Region 1 (weapon upgrade)
5. Dash / Roll
Location: Gloomy Catacombs (Region 4), after defeating the Elite Sentinel · Prerequisite: Defeat Elite Sentinel of Soulfire · Guardian: Elite Sentinel (boss)
The Dash ability replaces your standard dodge with a faster, longer-distance dash that can pass through narrow gaps and under obstacles. It also has slightly longer i-frames.
Exploration Uses
- Pass through narrow horizontal gaps that normal movement can't fit through
- Cross collapsing floors faster (dash across before they fall)
- Outrun pursuing hazards in escape sequences
6. Combat Skills
In addition to traversal abilities, Divinum features several combat-focused skills unlocked through the Ancestor Spirit skill trees:
- Riposte: After a successful parry, press attack to unleash a powerful counter. Unlocked via the Warrior Ancestor Spirit tree.
- Soul Drain: Finishers restore health and resource. Unlocked via the Sage Ancestor Spirit tree.
- Air Combo Extender: Adds an extra attack to aerial combo strings. Unlocked via the Dancer Ancestor Spirit tree.
- Perfect Dodge Counter: Dodging at the last moment triggers an automatic counter-attack. Unlocked via the Shadow Ancestor Spirit tree.
7. Recommended Unlock Order
For the smoothest progression, unlock abilities in this order:
- Blink (Region 2) — Unlocks the most paths and is essential for combat
- Water Breathing (Region 3) — Opens underwater secrets in Regions 1 and 3
- Dash (Region 4, post-boss) — Improves combat and opens narrow passages
- Double Jump (Region 5) — Reaches the highest secrets; requires Blink to access
- Combat Skills (via Ancestor Spirits) — Invest as you collect spirits throughout the game
Note: Ability locations and unlock conditions are based on the launch version of Divinum. Some abilities may be repositioned or have changed prerequisites in post-launch updates.
